The Golden Era

All I know Wiz, is that I wanted the Pistons in this round. It wouldn't be the same if we didn't have to go through the Pistons to go to the Finals. In 2004, it wouldn't have been the same if the Red Sox didn't have to go through Yankees to go to the World Series. And Wiz, I hope your right and we have a nice quick series.

Jon Lester threw a no hitter last night. No one deserves a no hitter more than this kid. In a two year span he was diagnosed with cancer, beat the cancer, came back and got a win in his first start back, won Game 4 of the World Series, and capped it off with a no hitter. Last night, he was absolutely terrific. He seemed to get better as the game wore on. On his final pitch, he threw 96. The Royals have a legit offense and Lester just absolutely shut them down. It was great to see and Lester didn't seem that fazed by it. He has been through so much, that a no hitter doesn't even register. Every one in the ball park was ecstatic. Francona and Lester shared a emotional hug. I cant wait to see how Lester pitches now.

Last night also continued the Golden Era of sports here in Boston. I say that this era started in 2001 with the Patriots first Super Bowl win. Since that time, us fans have seen 5 championships, a perfect regular season for the Pats, a couple of no hitters and millions of other great moments. The Celtics on working towards another championship and the Bruins are a young and exciting team. The Red Sox have 2 of the last 4 World Series and are arguably the best team in baseball this year. The Pats came within 2 minutues of 19-0 and I would say are still the favorite for next year. This is why other cities hate us and I'm glad they hate us. No city will probably ever have all 4 major teams so good at the same time. This is truly The Golden Era of Boston Sports and I'm glad I'm here to witness the magic.

Also last night was a perfect 2 day period. Lester's no no and Pierce's Game 7 performance will always be remembered together. Now we have Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Fianls tonight. This is such a important game tonight because the Pistons have been off for awhile and the Celtics are in a rhythm. People say that Chauncey Billups is going to tool on Rondo. While Rondo will have a tough time guarding him but Billups has to guard Rondo too and Rondo is the last person that I would want to guard if I was coming off a hamstring injury. Also Ray Allen has to give us some points. He has beef with Rip Hamilton and hopefully that will give him a little extra motivation. Look for the Celtics to run a lot when they have the chance and not try to play the half court game with them. Lets get it on.
