Lakers vs Celtics

The Boston Celtics are in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1987. Even better, they are going up against the Los Angeles Lakers. I am so excited. The Celts went on the road and beat to Pistons to advance. They were down by 10 early in the fourth and Paul Pierce made a ton of key plays. He had a nice And 1 and sweet pull up jumper. KG have a few big hoops. James Posey made a huge steal on Tayshaun Prince with about 1:30 left in the game. It was a great comeback road win and it was even better to see them keep their poise down the stretch.

Now its Celtics vs Lakers in the NBA Finals. So much of the NBA's history comes from these two teams. The Celtics have 16 championships and the Lakers have 14. The two franchises have had some many great battles. They have met in the Finals 10 times and this will make it 11. So many great players have played on the teams. Russell. Wilt. Cousy. West. Hondo. Baylor. Heinsohn. Goodrich. Bird. Magic. McHale. Kareem. Parish. Worthy. And the list goes on and on. Now Pierce, Garnett, and Allen will take on Kobe, Gasol, and Odom in the next installment of the Celtics/Lakers rivalry. You could make a case that the Celtic/Laker rivalry is more intense than the Red Sox/Yankee rivalry but that's for another day. Its the way it should be. Everyone knows it. Heck, even my mom said its the way it should be.

These 2 teams are very evenly matched. The Lakers have a high powered offense while the Celtics have the great defense. This series also brings up many great story lines. Pierce, KG, and Allen looking for the first rings. Kobe looking for a ring without Shaq. Pierce going back to play in LA in the Finals. Phil Jackson looking to pass Red Auerbach for most championships for a coach against the Celtics. This is going to be so much fun. Celtics in 7. Lets get it on.
